Vrat special Sabudana (sago) vada recipe

Namaskar, welcome to healthy In this session we will learn how to make Sabudana vada , it is also called sago vada .

Sabudana vada', is a traditional deep fried snack from Maharashtra, India. It is often served with spicy green chutney

Sabudana vada are the best option to have when fasting.

Therefore, this nutritious snack is served usually during fast/vrat/upvaas specially in Navratri vrats. 

So let's start to make(sago) Sabudana vada.

Ingredients for(sago) Sabudana vada

One and half cup of Sabudana.

4 -5 Boiled potatoes -  medium size

rock salt (sendha namak) as per your taste

1/2 tsp of cumin ( jeera)

3 tbsp of Fresh coriander chopped

2 tsp of  green chilly paste -coarsly grinded.

1 cup Roasted peanutes powder

If you are not preparing for fasting then you can also add spices to it.like (garam masala, amchoor powder , red chilly powder etc. )

Method to prepare for sago( Sabudana vada)

Wash the sabudana properly.
Soak for 6-8 hours or overnight in 1 cup of water.

After 6-8 hours, sabudana would have soaked all the water and will be soft.



Take a bowl and grate or mashed the boiled potatoes in to the bowl add soaked sabudana, chopped  coriander leaves , green chilli paste  cumin , sendha namak (rock salt) and roasted peanuts powder in it

Mix everything nicely.


Make small balls from the
dough.Flatten them like a cutlet and set aside.






It is very sticky so apply little oil on your palms.

Fry these flattened pieces in the smoky hot oil, until they turn golden brown.





Serve  the sabudana vada hot with green coriander chutney.
